This one-of-a-kind hat was hand-spun, then hand-knit. Coming from our alpaca ranch, just west of Capitol Reef National Park, in the beautiful high mountain desert near Bicknell, Utah.
Our herdsires, Redford and Aragon, grow such lovely fleeces and are shorn once a year. From that point, their fleece is carded, then hand-spun into skeins of yarn. At this point, I decide what style of hats to knit. I came up with the idea of "Best of Both Friends" because their yarns complimented each other in both color and in high quality yarns.
To feel this hat is to definitely fall in love with it.
Alpaca is three times warmer than wool without the "itchy" factor. It's also fire retardant and water repellant. It will "give" or stretch out some after wearing. so anticipate that. Please hand-wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. NEVER WASH IN THE WASHING MACHINE.
Also, please store your alpaca hat in a zip-lock bag when you're not wearing or using it for extended periods of time. Your wearable art hat should be enjoyed for years to come, but moth larvae also enjoy alpacas as much as they love wool. Don't let them ruin your lovely hat.
PS The pom pom is removable and not made of alpaca.
